Effective date: 29 October 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are the rules for using the Kaeru Kitchen app and this website, made by Pokaeru Labs. The Terms go together with our Privacy Policy, which explains what information we handle. The app is free to download and use. It is provided “as is”, and we have no plans to charge for it or to show ads.
1. Accepting these Terms
By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not download or use the app. The app is open to cooks worldwide, and you are responsible for following the laws that apply to you.
Apple App Store. If you downloaded the app from Apple’s App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Apple EULA”) applies, and these Terms add to it. If the two conflict, the Apple EULA applies. These Terms are between you and Pokaeru Labs only, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app, its content or its support. Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce these Terms against you as third-party beneficiaries.
2. Your license to use the app
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial cooking and recipe keeping, in line with these Terms and Apple’s usage rules. We keep all other rights in the app. This licence ends if you break these Terms in a serious way or if you stop using the app.
3. No account
You do not need an account or sign-in to use the app. The app does not ask for your name or email.
4. What the app does
The app gives you tools to keep and cook from your own recipes. You can:
- save recipes: type them in, or import from a web link, a photo or pasted text, and add your own photos, videos and notes;
- tweak recipes: change amounts, steps and notes, keep your own version next to the original, and see an edit history;
- scale and convert: change servings, switch between metric and imperial, and use the unit converter;
- stay organised: use folders, tags and search, and keep a shopping list;
- share: send a recipe by email or message as text;
- use it across devices: on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
The app is for personal, non-commercial use. You may use it for your own cooking, and to share your own recipes with friends and family. Section 8 explains what you can and cannot do with recipes, text and images that belong to other people.
5. Importing recipes
The app contacts a website only when you ask it to import a link. Imports are read automatically and can be incomplete or wrong, and if a website changes or stops, some information may become unavailable. Please check each imported recipe before you rely on it. Your own recipes stay on your device either way.
Websites’ terms apply too. By importing from a website, you also agree to follow the terms that website sets. If you break them, you also break these Terms.
6. Your recipe data
Your recipes, notes, photos, videos, folders, tags and shopping lists are stored on your device, inside the app. If you turn on iCloud sync, a copy is also kept in your own iCloud account, using Apple’s technology. Apple’s privacy policy and terms govern iCloud. We never receive your recipe data, so we cannot see, read, copy or sell it. We do not track you or show ads. Your recipes belong to you, and we claim no rights over them.
If you delete the app, the recipes on your device are deleted with it, unless you kept a device backup or turned on iCloud sync. Deleting a recipe on one device can delete it on your other devices. We cannot restore lost data, because we have no access to it.
7. Acceptable use
Please use the app the way it is meant to be used. You agree not to:
- break the law, or use the app to harm others;
- copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the app, or try to get at its source code, except where the law allows it;
- try to break, overload or gain unauthorized access to the app, our website or our systems, or use the app to do this to any other website;
- use bots, scrapers or other automated means to access the app or our website, or use the app’s import to copy a website at scale;
- use the app, or our own material, for a commercial purpose without our written permission; or
- pretend to be someone else, or give us false details when you contact us.
8. Content and other rights
Kaeru Kitchen is an independent app. Apple, Mac, iPad, iPhone, iCloud and the App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc.
Who owns recipe content. Text, photos and artwork you import from a website, book or other source stay with their owners. The app shows this content only to help you keep recipes for your own use. Nothing in these Terms gives you any rights in it. Please add only things you have the right to keep, such as your own recipes, family recipes, or pages and photos you may copy for your own use.
Sharing. You can share your recipes with friends and family. Please do not use recipes that belong to others commercially, for example to sell or advertise them.
If you own rights in content shown in the app. If you believe something in the app or on this website uses your rights improperly, contact us with: what the content is, where it appears, what rights you hold, and how to contact you. We will review your message promptly and, where appropriate, remove or change the content.
Other services. Third-party services you sync through, such as Apple (iCloud), have their own terms and privacy policies.
Our name and app. The Kaeru Kitchen name, logo, website and the app itself belong to Pokaeru Labs. Please do not use them without our permission.
9. Cooking safely
Scaling, unit changes and imported text may contain mistakes. Always check amounts, cooking times and temperatures yourself.
The app does not give dietary, allergy or medical advice. If you or the people you cook for have allergies or health needs, check every ingredient yourself. Follow safe food handling. You cook at your own risk.
10. Availability and changes to the app
We work hard to keep the app running well, but we cannot promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of bugs. We may update, change, pause or retire features, or the app itself, from time to time. If a change is significant, we will say so in the app or on this website.
11. Ending your use
You can stop at any time by deleting the app. There is no account to close. If you delete the app, the recipes on your device are deleted with it, unless you kept a device backup or turned on iCloud sync. Recipes in your iCloud stay there until you delete them yourself.
12. Disclaimer and limits of liability
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises or warranties about the app, whether express or implied. That includes promises that it will be accurate, always available, error-free, or suited to a particular purpose.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Pokaeru Labs is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profits or recipes, arising from your use of the app.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to exclude or limit. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under the consumer laws where you live that cannot be limited by agreement.
13. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to use the app. We do not knowingly collect children’s information. If you believe a child has given us their details, email us and we will delete them.
14. Changes to these Terms
If we change these Terms, we will update the date at the top. For significant changes, we will say so on this website or in the app. Changes do not apply to anything that happened before they take effect. If you keep using the app after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
15. Disputes and governing law
If you have a problem with the app, contact us. We will try to resolve it with you within 30 days.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. Any dispute will be heard by the courts of Singapore, although nothing here removes rights you have under the laws of the country where you live.
16. General
Whole agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and, where it applies, the Apple EULA are the whole agreement between you and us about the app.
If part is invalid. If a court finds part of these Terms invalid, the rest still applies.
No waiver. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
Transfer. We may transfer these Terms to another organization that takes over the app. You may not transfer your rights under them.
Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely, without owing you anything.
Events outside our control. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events we cannot reasonably control, such as outages at third-party services.
Translations. If we translate these Terms, the English version applies.
